  • Applications from international organizations are permitted, but work must be taking place in this list of countries. Please note our scoring criterion prioritizes work done by people in SSA

  • Our thematic focus is on FLN, with a specific focus on key challenges related to implementation: efficiencies for sustainable scale, uptake of evidence into government systems and adaptation to new contexts

  • No, we do not - you simply need to complete an application form.

  • We are defining “at scale” as implementing in at least 100 schools.

  • Systems integration is assessed based on the level of government involvement in the program, either through direct adoption of a program or support in delivery of the program.

  • We are assessing the evidence base of the topic area your program focuses on. A topic might be teacher mentoring or teaching materials aligned with the evidence

  • The Evidence Studio is an offer from the uBoraBora programme to translate insights, learnings and evidence into stories in a variety of formats, to be shared with a range of audiences in the sector.

  • The Bora Network is an external sector network that aims to share insights from across our work. This will also act as a platform for grantees to share their progress and learnings

  • All grantees will be connected over the course of the 18 month programme at regular intervals to share learnings and insights from their work. This will be driven by common needs and opportunities.

  • You’ll also be required to share progress on a regular basis with the uBoraBora team. Our obligations in return are to make sure grantees get a lot out of attending these sessions and that they foster valuable learning for all. We will regularly seek feedback to make sure this is the case.

  • We intend for this to be the first of a number of calls, and we intend for calls to be held on an annual basis.

  • We are using a three step selection process. First, you will complete an application form. Then, if selected, we will work with you collaboratively in a 60 minute session to design a written proposal for the work. Applications will then be reviewed by our Advisory Board and Investment Committee.

  • This is possible. In this instance we would still ask for you to join and share your progress, but there is not a requirement for you to receive technical support.

  • This is possible. We would encourage you to declare this in the application form. In this scenario, we would utilize the funding for your proposal to deliver technical support of the same value ($100,000)

  • Yes. uBoraBora is set up to support potential grantees who have challenges and could benefit from support with generating ideas to overcome those challenges.

  • We agree payment and delivery milestones with you at the end of the selection process and once we have shaped the work to be done, together.
